ON THE TOWN, the kinetic wartime musical about three sailors on a 24-hour leave in New York City, opened on December 28th, 1944. Based on Jerome Robbins’ ballet Fancy Free, the show features a glorious Leonard Bernstein score, with playful book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green.
